My Bikes!
These are my bikes, shoes, swim gear, and other more permanent fixtures of my fitness journey! The nature of some of these pieces of gear means they will be replaced at some point. I will try to keep this up to date and include my thoughts on each!
Ruby - 2020 Specialized Roubaix
Road, race, adventuring, gravel curious.

Ruby is my primary road bike. I chose this bike for the frame and comfort features; the FACT10 carbon frame hits WAY abouve it's class in aerodynamics, weight, strength, and versatility! At the time Specialized claimed it was more aero than the same era Tarmac but with more play in the seat post and Future Shock damping in the headset to soften the bumps of the famously rough cobles of its namesake. Those comfort features also work very well on some less than perfect tarmac and trails, with the occasional trip down some gravel trails! You can usually find us cruising around in full kit, carbon aero Mercury wheels (RIP), plenty of water, an unnecessary amount of stuff in the saddle bag, and a GoPro to record my adventures!
Geena - 2021 Specialized Turbo Vado 4.0
Commuting, traveling, having fun, going full "Turbo Man" mode!
Technically Green Geena. She's electric, and Green in more ways than one. The spelling of "Geena" is purposeful, as there are two e's in green and none in "Gina." Sorry Gina. The built-in lights are fantastic, great battery life, and I specifically chose this for the pedal assist only (no throttle here!). Being pedal assist, it is able to legally go up to 28 MPH in pedal assist model and the mid-drive motor makes for a very pleasant ride while using zero assist. The rack on the rear is weird, but extremely useful after you find the compatible bags and baskets. I am fully aware that he mirrors are super nerdy, but they are helpful to see what's coming up behind me, even though that has been almost completely replaced by using my Varia radar with my Garmin Edge 830 (or Edge 820, if I'm feeling nostalgic and its charged). This thing is an amazing commuter bike, has a great range of gears, lots of customization, a comfy ride, and can get fast with or without the e-assist! I still think I would have been just as happy with the Vado 4.0 SL, but the front shock is fantastic to soften cracked streets and wider tires make for an amazing winter commuter!

Retired - 2015 Specialized Secteur Double
First "real" road bike. Served me well!

Retired - 2014 Schwinn Solara
My first adventure in road bikes
The one that started it all! I can't really say it was "retired" because it was stolen out of my mom's garage. Steel and mid-handlebar shift levers, it was an interesting experience that solidified my decision to go for a nicer road bike the next spring. At $200, it was a good starting road bike and the styling is pretty solid! It clearly tricked whoever thought they were stealing a nicer bike than my uncle's Giant mountain bike!
